Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP):What is it and What Conditions Can it Treat?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP therapy) is an advanced, non-surgical treatment option for patients looking to heal injuries and conditions with less recovery time than surgical intervention.

Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, is blood plasma with concentrated platelets. These concentrated platelets in platelet rich plasma contain bio-active proteins that are vital in the initiation and acceleration of tissue repair and regeneration, which speeds the healing process of injuries or degeneration.

Platelet Rich Plasma stimulates the body's natural healing process, especially when injected into a targeted area.

PRP Therapy has been effective in treating many conditions including:

  •     Tendonitis

  •     Muscle, ligament + tendon strains

  •     Sprains + tears

  •     Rotator cuff injuries

  •     Patella, ACL, MCL + meniscus injuries

  •     Back + neck pain

  •     Elbow + shoulder injuries

  •     Hair Loss

  •     Skin Laxity, Scarring + Collagen Loss

PRP Therapy at Premier Pain Care and Wellness is performed in-office by our triple board certified physician, Dr. Gendai Echezona, during a 30-45 minute appointment which entails:

  • A normal blood draw from the patient before the extracted blood is spun on a centrifuge to separate the PRP from red blood cells

  • A local anesthetic for numbing the area that is to be treated

  • An injection of the PRP into the targeted area to promote healing and regeneration with little to no pain involved

PRP patients often experience results relatively quickly, but each individual is different. Dr. Echezona will monitor your particular condition and recommend a personalized treatment plan and approach to ensure an optimal outcome.
